Film (Full version) in 10 minutes.

It measures knowledge or reasoning in film history, cinematography and classic British directors, including sound design, editing and narrative techniques. It suits learners, curious readers and people preparing a subject exam.

There are three levels: Easy, Intermediate and Expert, each with a Short version of 10 questions and a Full version of 30 questions. Choose Short for a quick overview, Full for a more precise score, and the level matching your proficiency. Each format has one overall time limit equal to its duration.

Revise British directors, sci-fi concepts, film music, editing and cinematography terminology. Practise answering under a set time limit because you cannot skip ahead and each question has one correct answer. Use the optional Hint for method tips when unsure.

The result shows correct answers out of total and a band: Needs work below 40%, Intermediate from 40%, Advanced from 60%, Expert from 80% only at Expert level. At other levels the top band is Advanced. Passing thresholds are 6 out of 10 or 18 out of 30.

A passed test earns a PDF certificate with first and last name, score, date, certificate number and a QR code that opens a verification page. It is attached to the result email and downloadable from the account.

You can retake with Start again, but questions are the same and in the same order, so a retake mostly measures memory. Rankings show only your best attempt, highest score then shortest time, using first name and last initial.

Your result is visible only to you. Country and city are estimated from your internet connection, never GPS. You can request deletion of your personal data from the site's data rights page, but deletion is a request, not an instant button.
