Frequently asked questions
What does this test actually measure and who is it for?
It measures knowledge and reasoning about British monarchs from the Anarchy to the House of Windsor, plus constitutional changes and dynastic links. It suits learners, curious readers, and anyone revising royal history. It is not an official exam.
How do the three levels differ and how should I choose?
Easy, Intermediate, and Expert are separate question series, increasing in difficulty. Choose Easy to check basics, Intermediate for solid revision, Expert to challenge advanced recall. Start with the level matching your current confidence.
What is the difference between Short and Full versions regarding time and scoring precision?
Short versions have 10 questions in about 3 minutes. Full versions have 30 questions, taking about 8, 9, or 10 minutes by level. Choose Full for a more precise score, Short for a quick overview.
How should I prepare specifically for this test's dynastic and constitutional focus?
Practise tracing royal lines and identifying monarchs by unique events, not names alone. Revise family connections, title creation, and constitutional shifts. Use the hint methodically: it gives a reasoning approach without revealing the answer or reducing your score.
How is my result scored and what do the bands mean?
Each correct answer gives one point. Below 40% is Needs work, 40% Intermediate, 60% Advanced, and 80% Expert at Expert level only. At Easy or Intermediate levels, the top band is Advanced. Passing thresholds are 6/10 or 18/30.
What do I get if I pass and how does the certificate work?
Passing earns a PDF certificate with your first and last name, score, date, a certificate number, and a QR code linking to a verification page. It is attached to the result email and downloadable from your account.
Can I retake the test, and what happens with rankings and privacy?
You can retake it with Start again; questions stay the same and in the same order, so a retake mostly measures memory. Rankings show only your best attempt, by first name and last initial. Your result is visible only to you.
