Geography and Global Studies
Evaluate your understanding of UK topography and administrative geography through thirty detailed questions. Study Scottish council areas and English river systems. Start the assessment.
Once you are done, your score is computed from all of your answers and compared with everyone who has already taken this test. You immediately see which questions you got right, which you missed, and the correct answer to each of them.
Your result unlocks the WhoTest world ranking: you see where you stand among the other Geography and Global Studies candidates, in your country and in your city, and if your score beats the average your certificate is issued live. No account is needed to start.
It tests precise county and river geography, not famous landmarks alone. You need to distinguish coastal from landlocked counties, trace river courses through urban areas and place peaks, woodlands and islands within their counties. It suits curious readers, learners and exam preparation.
There are Easy, Intermediate and Expert levels, each with a Short version (10 questions, about 3 minutes) or a Full version (30 questions, about 8 to 10 minutes depending on level). Choose Short for a quick check, Full for a more precise score.
Revise county boundaries and coastal versus landlocked status, then practise following a river's course through urban centres before reading the options. For boundary questions, picture the coastline and work inwards to avoid assuming broad areas are coastal. The Hint option gives a method tip without lowering your score.
Your result gives correct answers out of the total, one point each. Bands are Needs work below 40%, Intermediate from 40%, Advanced from 60%, Expert from 80% only at Expert level. Pass marks are 6 out of 10 or 18 out of 30. Passing earns a PDF certificate with your name, score, date, certificate number and QR code.
The questions are the same and in the same order, so a retake mostly measures memory. In the rankings, only your best attempt counts, using highest score first, then the shortest time among equal scores. Country and city are estimated from your IP address.
Only you can see your full result. Unlocking it also adds your best attempt to the public rankings, which show only your first name and the initial of your last name, country, city, score and time. Your country and city are based on your IP address, never GPS.
Whatever your goal, there's a test for you.
