Frequently asked questions
What kind of gaming knowledge does this test measure, and whom is it for?
The test checks recall of gaming history and culture, including hardware, MMORPG timelines, shooter mechanics, RPG lore and narrative details. It suits curious players, learners revising the subject and trivia enthusiasts, not as an official qualification.
How do the levels and formats work, and which should I choose?
Choose a level with the selector or start window: Easy, Intermediate or Expert, each as a 10-question short or 30-question full. Take a short version for a quick overview; choose full for a more precise score. Full versions run 8, 9 or 10 minutes by level.
How should I prepare for the specific topics without learning test answers?
Revise broad topics the test covers: hardware evolution, MMORPG expansion order, shooter power-up and weapon mechanics, RPG languages and lore, and classic narrative details. Practise under the fixed time limit and read each prompt carefully to identify the exact game or console requested.
How are the score bands and pass marks calculated, and what certificate do I receive?
One point per correct answer. Bands are Needs work below 40%, Intermediate at 40%, Advanced at 60% and Expert at 80% only on Expert. Passing needs 6 of 10 short or 18 of 30 full. A pass earns a PDF certificate with name, score, date, certificate number and QR code.
What happens if I retake the test or challenge a friend?
Retakes use the same questions in the same order, so they mainly measure memory. Challenge a friend creates a link valid 7 days for the same test; the higher score wins, with faster time breaking a tie. Rankings count only your best attempt by score then time.
Who can see my result or my entry in the rankings?
Your result is visible only to you. Unlocked results appear in The rankings, filtered by test, country and city, showing first name and last-name initial, country, city, score and time. Country and city are estimated from your IP address, never GPS. You can request deletion via the data rights page.
Can the result compare my performance with other participants?
When enough people have taken the test, the result says what share of participants you did better than, in your city, your country or worldwide. It appears alongside your score and band after unlocking.
