It measures your knowledge and reasoning about British battles, naval strategy, diplomatic treaties, political developments and military logistics of the First World War. It is useful for learners, curious readers and people revising this subject.

Choose Easy for a first overview, Intermediate to consolidate, or Expert to challenge deeper knowledge. Short version gives a quick overview and Full version a more precise score. The time is shown per format: about 3 minutes for Short versions, and about 8, 9 or 10 minutes for Full versions.

Revise the chronology of British battles and naval operations, the main diplomatic treaties and their terms, and home front policies such as women's work and rent control. Practise distinguishing roles in military medicine and logistics, and read the question wording carefully before choosing one option.

Your score is the number of correct answers out of the total. Bands are Needs work below 40%, Intermediate from 40%, Advanced from 60%, and Expert from 80% only at Expert level; otherwise the top band is Advanced. Each Short version passes at 6 correct out of 10 and each Full version at 18 correct out of 30.

A certificate is issued only when the test is passed, at the format's stated threshold. It contains your first and last name, score, date, a certificate number and a QR code opening a verification page. It is attached to the result email and downloadable from your account.

You can retake it as often as you want with Start again; the questions are the same and in the same order, so a retake mostly measures memory. Rankings show only your best attempt, by highest score then shortest time, and display only first name and last initial.

Your result is visible only to you. Unlocked results appear in public rankings showing only first name and last initial, country, city, score and time. You can request deletion of personal data from the site's data rights page.
